Seems like to me MW2 isn't going to be all that good. Games like Call of Duty are only fun when you play with friends, but in MW2 they took off Xbox Live Party Chat from the best game modes ex. teamdeath, S&D etc. which is gay. Second, what happened to all the Hardcore modes? there are only 3... and that is S&D, Team Death, and 3rd person team death. I was excited for the game until I heard about this.

Any and all discrepancies I point out are just for my analysis.  Every video has errors, especially video games where its very hard to make a character do exactly what you want.  This is one of the most epic trailers I have seen in a long time and I'm not trying to say its crap.  This is a an analysis, take it as you will.

And as far as I know it, this is the first picture of the Predator Missile flying through the air, its only a single frame before it hits the building, but if you go full screen you can see the plane, looks like an f22 raptor

7 Things That Should Be In The PS3 Version Of MW2

**PLEASE NOTE: These are all things the 360 version will haveFOR SURE.

1. Trophies
I don't know if Sony had made this mandatory yet but some games have been releasing without trophies and it would be a shame if one of the biggest games this year won't.

2. In-Game Music
This was a feature added over a year ago and since then hardly any of the games have supported this feature. This is a feature than some players really want.

3. Multiple Profiles and two players can unlock Trophies
Because Sony decided that all players should use the same profile unless the developer lets a controller choose a profile not many games support two player profiles. Also because of this and adding the trophy system so late some games only the first player can get trophies even though second player is using his own profile. But sometime around GDC the ability for developers to allow two users to use PSN became available therefore now each player can unlock trophies but it's all up to the developers. This is mainly for the co-op mode.

4. No Installs
There were no installs in the first one, and I was very happy about it. I really hope this one won't have installs.

5. Cross-Game Inviting
This feature is available in some games like Resistance 2, Resident Evil 5 and EndWar; however hasn't been implemented in many other games. It would be a great feature for Modern Warfare 2 on the PS3 and it will help PlayStation 3 users play with their friends easier.

6. Ability to view STATS of friends who are OFFLINE
I know this feature was available on the Xbox 360 version however it wasn't on the PlayStation 3 version. I hope you fixed the problem for Modern Warfare 2.

7. Join game feature
The ability to join somebody's public game by going to the in-game friends list and clicking join game.

I read somewhere that Treyarch said that it takes more game memory for them to put Camo on guns, so basically if the only way for IW to add this many guns is to take away gun camo then so be it.
What do you guys think?

I think they should use the US vs someone and UK vs somone (for online play). The teams should have camouflage, because in COD4 the US had advantage over Opfor

They will most likely bring the underbarrel 40mm grenade launcher. It would be very cool if they put in different kinds of grenades. They can have the explosive frag grenade, a flare, a smoke grenade that is a different color than hand held smoke grenade. It would be really cool if you can get a M576 buckshot. It contains 20 pellets. You load it into the grenade launcher like any other type of grenade.

If they cant do this before the games come out(they probably cant unless it is already in the game). This could be in DLC or in an update. For pistol headshots they could have skins for the guns. They don't change the performance of the gun or anything just the look. I posted some examples that they can put for the M1911. Also for the M9 they could do the Beretta 92G Elite II. Just an idea. I would like some feedback to see how everyone feels.

Kill Streak Unlock Ideas

As we've all seen in the recent multiplayer video, there is an astounding amount of kill streak rewards to unlock. Fourzerotwo also recently asked for our input on other streak rewards to put into the game. There was a thread going there for these ideas, but it wasn't updated, and most of the ideas were simply too far  fetched. So, in an effort to get more of our ideas heard/implemented, I've decided to go ahead and make a thread dedicated to collecting and organizing the different rewards.

It will work as such:

1. Post your idea(s) below. Please only submit a maximum of three (3) unlock ideas. Make sure your ideas are well thought out, make sense, and aren't asinine. An example of a kill streak that is NOT going to make the front page is this: "Spartan Armor: Your character becomes encased in Spartan armor from Halo." Also make sure you put the number of kills beside each streak.

2. Each day I will update the ideas, and place them on the front page, under a heading for the author. If you don't see your idea there, please don't ask here, send me a PM.

3. Please don't bash other people's ideas. This is meant to be a constructive thread, not a pissing contest.

Armored Support, 10, receive armored support by a Bradley Fighting vehicle (or Stryker, Abrams). It's basically a ground based version of the helicopter.

AH-6C Strafing Run, 5, close fire support using rockets and mini-guns mounted aboard an AH-6C Little Birds. Think of this like the air strike from CoD4, you select a "corridor" that you want the 'choppers to come in on, and they strafe it.

Precision Strike, 5, a precision strike by a five hundred pound JDAM. Think of this as a larger, single area version of the air strike from CoD4. I thought it would be a good addition for pesky campers.

EOD Support, 5, an EOD team enters the battlefield, defusing/detonating all enemy placed explosives. Can be shot at/destroyed while in the battlefield.

Localized Disruption,3 or 4, Places a marker on the map rendering radar ineffective within a certain radius for approximately 30 seconds. Alternately, this effect could originate from your character for this time period.

IFF Scrambler, 3 or 4, Nearby enemies register you and anyone within a certain distance from you as a friendly on radar for roughly 30 seconds. Does not affect visual recognition, you'll still show with a red tag over your head. Strictly based on the minimap.

Attack Dogs, 7 to 11, Attack Dogs: Functionally identical to the World at War dogs.

Illumination Flare,5, For 30 seconds an artillery parachute flare will appear in the sky above the map increasing illumination to near daylight. (yes useless on daylight maps but a interesting twist for night time settings) However on daylight maps it would drop random White Phosphorous rounds around the map damaging any enemies that it hits(would damage friendlies in hardcore but not core), no target zone.

Thermite Penetrator Round, 7 or 10, An air support craft will drop a Thermite based explosive device that will bore into buildings and/or bunkers before setting off an explosive charge. (this will help deter or at least piss off campers

BLU-92/B anti-personnel mine - After the mine is planted, and the arming delay has passed - a squib is fired launching 8 tripwires from the mine. Tension on any of the wires triggers the mine electronically. The mine has an effective fragmentation radius of about 20 meters.

Logistics scrambler,7, 12 second countdown. Player designates an area of the map to affect. A countdown begins (shown on minimap as a red circle but otherwise no timer) and the end of the countdown any enemies with a kill streak or kill streak reward lose them.

Battlefield Overview, 3 to 5, gives player detailed information about the battlefield for 60 seconds. examples: when "highlighting" enemies, not only show a red name tag but shows (like in an "info panel" on the bottom of the screen) their health in a visible meter, distance to target in meters, current magazine capacity/ammo count, or even perk icons that they have equipped, etc..

Chopper Overwatch, 9 to 11, an alternate chopper reward (maybe at a higher 9 or 11 ks) should allow the player to control the machine gun or snipe out the side.

The guard dog would leave after 30 seconds or 3 kills.  (Whichever comes first).

Novichok Nerve Agent,
7,  Russian chemical weapon, creates a persistent visible cloud for 15 sec at designated area preventing anyone from passing through, blurs vision and kills within ~4 seconds if entered.

Artillery Support, 7, would be called in similar to the way you call in an air strike in Cod4 and the area of effect would be about the same as well. When you call in arty support artillery rains down shells on the area you called it in on, Shells will randomly hit areas in the circle back to back for about 10 seconds straight. Time it last could vary depending on how IW feels it should last, bu 10 seconds seems right.

This can be used to take out snipers, set up a smoke screen, and create an impenetrable wall of burning white phosphorous that lasts for about 5-10 seconds.

Heavy Metal, 15 Kills, Call in a precision strike(s) by a 64 MJ Rail Gun deployed aboard a Navy warship miles away. It could be one massive strike, or up to 8 smaller rounds fired in one minute. And could possibly be used to take out Helicopters, AC-130s, etc. Though, I would only include this if you are able to fire multiple rounds rather than just one.

To help give some context as to the power, speed, and overall bad ass-ness of this weapon:[/color]

- Such weapons are expected to be powerful enough to do a little more damage than a BGM-109 Tomahawk missile.

- 9 MJ is enough energy to deliver 2 kg of projectile at 3 km/s - at that velocity a rod of tungsten, or another dense metal, could easily penetrate a tank, and potentially pass through it.

- Due to the very high muzzle velocity that can be attained with rail guns, there is interest in using them to shoot down high-speed missiles.
(So this kill streak reward could possibly be used to take down Helicopters, AC130s, etc.)


- On January 31, 2008 the US Navy tested a rail gun; it fired a shell at 2,520 m/s with an energy of 10.64 MJ. Its expected performance is over 5.8 km/s muzzle velocity, accurate enough to hit a 5 meter target over 250 nautical miles / 230 miles (370 km) away while shooting at 10 shots per minute. Rods from God, 20, Tungsten rods dropped by an orbiting satellite that devastate anyone, anything, any area unfortunate enough to be loitering underneath it. It could equate to an airstrike, but more powerful and more precise with possibly a fixed circular area rather than a corridor. Even though it is apparent that there will be no destructible environments in the game, it should still kill anyone attempting to hide in a building, basically, you can't hide from this bad boy.

Again, here is some interesting info about it to provide some context and cool reading material:

- Is in the classification of a kinetic-energy weapons system.

- The guided rods enter the atmosphere, protected by a thermal coating, traveling at 36,000 ft/sec—comparable to the speed of a meteor.
- To fire, they would simply be released and allowed to fall back to Earth (with a bit of remote guidance) using Earth’s gravity. By the time they reached the surface, they’d be express delivered to you traveling at a speed of 36,000 ft/sec, and carry the destructive force of a nuclear warhead, only with none of the radioactive fallout.
- The result: complete devastation of the target, even if it’s buried deep underground.

Rocket Artillery, 5, gives you control of an MLRS. This lets you call in 5 rocket strikes. The area of effect of each rocket strike is a lot smaller than an air strike but it reaches the target a lot faster. Basically gives you 5 mini air strikes. You can call in a rocket strike once every 10 seconds.. Lasts for 5 rocket strikes. (also suggested by Mechnical, but he was out of idea 'slots').

IR Strobe Aided Air Strikes, 5, 7, or 10, using an IR strobe marker, the user of this streak can call in a precision strike by either AH-6C Little Birds, A-10 Wart Hogs, or by other air craft. The user tosses the strobe onto the area where he wants the strike to come in. The trade off for it being more accurate is that you have to get closer, and if you miss with the marker, you waste the streak. It could also use a smoke grenade as well.

Surveillance, 3 or 5, you can place 2 security cameras anywhere on the map you get 2 boxes pop up in top of screen showing the selected area. They last the entire life you placed them on. Can be shot or disabled with an EMP.

Supply Drop, 3, Upon pressing the activation key, the player opens a laptop, and a screen like the air strike screen in COD4 appears, and using the map, the user designated a spot to drop a Supply Crate. The person who called the drop will be the only person who can use the crate, because when you walk up to the crate and press the [USE] key, the player will punch in a password on the side panel, and the crate will open. The crate will resupply Primary arms, Side arms, Grenades, and special items such as claymores, mines, rockets, C4 etc.
Downside: The whole process from pressing the [USE] key to entering the password, to the end of resupplying will take about 15 seconds, and in this time frame, the user will be vaunerable to attacks, and if he is hit, then the process will end, and the user would have to restart the process.

Heli Drop, 5, A helicopter comes in to the map, if you hold X, you teleport into the transport chopper (Everyone on the team gets the choice to get in the helicopter, you don't have to get in.) The person who gets this kill streak gets to chose the drop location and on arrival, they rappel down into the map. This would be useful combined with UAV to drop down on the enemy team, and if your lucky to get it in S&D, you and your team can drop into the bomb plant. The weaknesses to this is that the chopper doesn't have any defense, and can be taken out easier, but can move around with more evasive maneuvers.

Incendiary Ammunition, 5 or 7, Prepare for some extra umph. After activating this kill streak (where you reload) for X amount of time you'll have incendiary rounds anti-material rounds, depending on your weapon.  After two clips full (or X amount of time) you will reload and end the kill streak (you have unlimited reloads during that time until you killed/fired X amount of shots or X amount of time has past). The type of ammo changes depending on weapon, but they all give the same damage multiplier. Also: every time you switch weapons/ pick up a new weapon with this kill streak activated you must mandatory reload for the extra ammo, taking valuable time.

Alternate Helicopter, 7 or 9, just an alternate take on all the other helicopter ideas, instead of them being AI controlled or brought in similar to an air strike, you actually control the 30mm cannon or mini-guns.

It is universally agreed that we need more bolt-actions sniper rifles in MW2, or at least the next modern game.
Here is a list of a few bolt-action snipers (and their ammunition, for those who care) that are worthy of being in MW2 or 3:

Hey everyone, im Captain of TAA and just wondering if anyone had pro tips.
This probably been posted at one time or another but anyway I was wondering are there any pro gamers on this forum that has a high GB rank that could give me pro tips for CoD. Im good but i want to get to better. All opinions are welcome.

A Lack of New Snipers?

I am a big sniper fan and I have noticed that there are only two confirmed snipers, one of which is from COD4 (and that I'm not a fan of). Is it possible that there is a multitude of new snipers but they just haven't been shown in any of the videos? Sorry if this is a repeated thread, thanks for any replies.

ok, ive been goin around noticing a lot of ppl saying the plot sucks and shepard did it for personal glory blah blah blah. i dont believe thats true. ive finished the game, and from one of shepard's last lines i believe i found his true motive, and although a tad cliche, it fits, and makes the story go from "huh?" to "omg awesome"

"5 years ago i lost 30000 men in the blink of an eye, and the world just fuckin' watched"

this here is the key line. it explains a lot of what shepard's intent was. sure he's an army general and he is talking about marines, but it still hit home. Now somehow, probably because he became commander of tf141 and ppl like soap were there to fill him in, he found out the nuke was russian. he blames the russians for those mens' deaths, and wants a war with russia. he wants revenge and he wants to be the one to give it to them. like he said at the end to: "There will be no shortage of patriots", referring to the amount of volunteer service bound to happen under an invasion

now we move to the present. shepard is in command of tf141 and has been tracking makarov. in makarov he sees the opportunity to get his war. He sends in pfc allen undercover, probably whilst telling makarov his identity. he works with makarov to get his plan going. makarov undoubtedly wanted to cause unrest with this action, playing as americans, but with a cia agent involved, the government is directly tied and war would be inevitable. shepard compromises allen on purpose, leaving the us open to invasion. The acs has to do with the downed satellite you attempt to recover with soap. yet shepard sends them chasing a blind target so that he can deal with allen without worrying about them, and the russians have either long had the acs codes or shepard gave it to them, allowing them to penetrate the us' defensive networks easily. he now has his war.

Shepard then remarks after getting price how they can always rebuild the white house. he wants dc to be carpet bombed and destroyed. this will ensure a response destruction of moscow. as the rangers at the end of their last level said they were eager to get to moscow. price sends the missile, without shepards call, so that he can knock out all of russia's tech in the area using the emp from the bomb, which unfortunately takes out an astronaut and a couple of satellites. the reason he did it while the americans are still there is simply because if you noticed the americans practically have no air support in dc it really is just the guys on the ground. this also somewhat foils shepard's plan in that they manage to save the white house and other various buildings from destruction

his betrayal all has to do with what he said was "tying up loose ends". He first splits soap and ghost with price and roach to keep them apart and give them less of a chance. the module you got from the estate house either had some important files of him on it or makarov, detailing his operations and the assault. makarov could always prevent an invasion of russia by revealing what really went down at the airport, as the us would crush russia even with its homeland devastated. he probably lured makarov to the plane graveyard and set him up as well as tf141. tf141 under soap and price want to capture makarov and ensure there is no continued conflict based on a lie. shepard sees it fit to let them do his dirty work and then eliminate them, so it is now up to soap and price to get rid of him and ensure that the war doesnt take a nasty turn and lead to ww3. only problem is they are now seen as terrorists, and shepards death might make him a martyr, so how price and soap deal with this, we will simply have to wait until mw3

i hope this clears stuff up for those of you who didnt get the plot at first, as i had the same issue. idk if im exactly right, but this makes the most sense. your welcome to comment!

A key to understanding the story is understanding the character of Makarov. What I mean is, the story might confuse alot of people because they assume Makarov was the mirror image of Zakhaev because IW touted Makarov as the new leader of the Ultranationalists. He was neither. Zakhaev was, at heart, a patriot. Extremist he might be, he wanted his country to be a superpower and he sought to brush aside all obstacles, whether they be the US, UK, or the Russian government. Makarov was a mercenary. As Shepherd explained, Makarov fights neither for government nor ideals, and trades blood for money. Little surprise that if Shepherd wanted to cause an international incident, Makarov would be the one to help him.

So Shepherd is the real antagonist, an ultranationalist for the US, one willing to jeopardize the security and way of life of his country in pursuit of his own agenda, very much a different side of the same coin as the people he purports to fight. Compared to Shepherd, Makarov is almost small potatoes, a trouble-maker and later convenient bogeyman for a vengeful US. It doesn't occur to me that Makarov cares alot about Russia. He's not part of the government, and even if he was concerned about the prospects of success in a war against the US, he wouldn't be in a position to direct it.

My theory isn't completely without holes. Right before the airport incident, Makarov said "For Zakhaev", implying loyalty or admiration for their martyr. However, it may only be a ploy to rally his companions into doing their butcher's work. In any case, extremists often give praise to all sorts of heroes while behaving totally contrary to their heroes' stated goals or teachings.
